A fine sunny day for the tasks. Besides the butterfly transect at the hillfort the rest of us could be found in the wood clearing debris from the brook, litter picking, clearing overhanging vegetation on the paths and checking the spread of the small balsam which we try to control every year. There is also a healthy amount of the native Enchanter’s nightshade which could compete with the non-native Small Balsam.
