Mowsbury Hill Meadow Orchids.
It always puts a spring into your step when things start to come alive, so we welcome onto Mowsbury Hill Meadow, Dactylorhiza fuchsia or to us common folk the Common Spotted Orchid or perhaps to some elder folk the Lesser Butterfly Orchid. There is also a number of Pyramidal Orchids, or Anacamptis pyramidalis as per the RHS or again to us common folk the Pyramid orchid.
They look a lot smaller than in previous years more like a dwarf varity but it is early days yet, plenty of time to reach for the sky. No sign of the Bee Orchids, (Ophrys apifera), but we shall keep our eyes open as we head towards midsummer. You will find the images Here
